BMW is working on a facelift version for both the X5 and the X6, including the base and the M versions. The facelift BMW X6 M was caught testing one more time on the N\u00fcrburgring race track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prototype started to drop part of its camouflage and is offering a better look at the newly designed front bumper. Just like the X5 and the X6, the M version will get new slimmer headlights with new style DRLs. The grille will most likely stay the same, but expect to see some design changes made to the grille inserts. As obvious from the uncovered rear end, we are still looking at a prototype in the early stages of development, and more updates will be applied at a later date. For now, it looks like changes to the rear will be limited to only new rear light graphics.<\/p>

A few changes will also be offered inside, with the biggest improvement being BMW\u2019s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to under-hood changes, there are two completely different rumours. One suggests that the facelift X6 M will be offered with the same twin-turbo, 4.4-litre V-8 engine that delivers 600 horsepower in the base version and 617 horsepower in the Competition version. The second rumour suggests that the facelift X5 and X6 M will switch over from the current S63 engine to the new S68 V8 – which will first be found in the production version of the XM. If this switch will actually happen, it means that the next X6 M (and also the X5 M) will only be offered in Competition versions, where it should deliver 750 horsepower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect the facelift X5 and X6 to be launched sometime before the end of 2022, with sales to begin in early 2023. As for the prices, we expect the X6 M to remain in the same price range as the current model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
